I’ve tried the new Avira AntiVir Free 7 and I see its Guard (real-time scanner) has the file selections as the following
all files
use smart extensions (scanning by file content)
use file extension list (scanning by file extension)
I’ve noticed that using file extension list is faster than using smart extensions, so what kind of real-time scanning does avast! use? scanning by file content or by file extension?
I think avast! standard shield uses file content to perform the real-time file scanning, right?
Could you set it in the same system with avast installed? How?
I’ve failed on this…
I think, maybe I’m wrong, that both antivir and avast use file content recognition in these two situations.
The first, use a default set of extension files scanning recognizing the contents of them.
The other, scans just the files listed there, but still recognizing them by content.
Probably you’ve set a shorter list than the whole default smart extensions catalog.
Maybe I’m wrong…
