I’m trying to figure out why jrun.exe is using over 300MB of memory so I need to figure out what programs are using Java but I can’t find this info anywhere about Avast. Does anyone know if it’s written in Java?
Well jrun.exe (has nothing to do with avast) it is a process belonging to Macromedia ColdFusion Server and is described is the JAR Launcher. So I guess if you have that application that is your culprit.
There are however, some incidences where this might be malware, so if you don’t have coldfusion a little more suspicious.

Since it installs vcredist2008 one should assume that at least some parts are written in C++
