Hi , just started using Avast a couple of days ago and I would like
to know whats the proper way to send suspected false positives
from Windows to Avast lab. I don’t get infected and probably never
will again , so if Avast detects something while doing a scan ,the
thing that I would do is leave the file were it is , but I would like to
send it to Avast to confirm that indeed is a FP or that the detection
is really a virus. I know what to do if the file is in the Virus chest, but
in my case its been years since I put something in quarantine and if
something gets detected I prefer not to move it from my system unless
I confirm that it really is a virus. I am asking this so if I ever get some-
thing detected I ll know how to send it to the lab real quick.

Send the sample to virus@avast.com zipped and password protected with the password in email body, a link to this topic might help and false positive/undetected malware in the subject.
Or you can also add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest (if it isn’t already there) where it can do no harm and send it from there. A copy of the file/s will remain in the original location, so you will need to take further action and can remove/rename that.
Send it from the User Files section of the chest (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). It will be uploaded (not actually emailed) to avast when the next avast auto (or manual) update is done.
Hi L’arc, thanks for the reply. How do I:
“add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest”
Bo
Go to the Virus Chest then right click and click Add…
Add the file you want to be sent. Once it appears on the Virus Chest, right click it and click Submit to Virus Lab.
Thanks L’arc, got it now.
Bo
You’re welcome.
