For several months, over and over, I got auto emails from Avast saying that Avast Passwords was being retired. The new version would be a browser extension called Avast Passwords Manager. Fine - I got that. Works fine. Also, over and over, it was explained that this new Manager was a freebie. Fine. BUT NOW, today, I’ve been charged $20 for the old version that doesn’t even fricking exist anymore!
Now thats a new one.
If your already paying for premium then that old manager came included.
Who was the payment made too, was it didgital river (not sure if this is UK only) or another name.
I would suggest trying support (good luck with that)
um - Why am I being told to just contact Support? AVAST PASSWORDS is RETIRED - In my Avast interface, it clearly states:
Notice: Avast Passwords will be discontinued
By the end of February 2025, Avast Passwords will retire and be replaced by Avast Pasword Manager - a safer, enhanced browser
extension, AVAILBLE FOR FREE. Enjoy better pasword protection by updating to Avast Password Manager. We can help migrate your passwords for you."
I have already migrated my list, I haven’t opened the old SUPPOSEDLY DEFUNCT Passwords for a month - I use the new browser extension which is PLAINLY STATED as being Free.
because we are users just like you. this is a members forum and not support so if you want a refund then thats where to ask.
and ive never heard of being charged for passwords as as you said, that was included in the premium package which now no longer exists.
Thanks much for the reply, MrDJ. Right, I know this is a members forum - I wasn’t yelling at the community, but expressing my outrage - And, of course, I was hoping someone here would clue me in about how that happened. I was curious if it’s happened to anyone else. - I’m surprised it hasn’t - Hmmm. SO - note well taken, thanks, MrDJ. – I’ll deal with Avast, but dread dealing with them again , it’s never been easy. Thanks.
