What to do with this pop up?

Hi,

These last few weeks I am getting pop up warnings that www.whirgaki.net is being blocked, as URL:Malvertising on www.whirgaki.net.

I did a deep scan with Avast and also used housecall online to make a scan, but without any results.

How can I solve this?

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, but don’t follow urls outside the forum.

See attached pictures below to do your work. We’ll be better able to help you that way.

Two ways to screenshot your warnings:

  • Alt+Print Screen
  • Windows logo key + Shift + S to start a snip of malware alert

Open Paint via Windows Start then hit ‘p’ for paint

Control + V to paste image

Save image to desktop

Now follow attaching instructions found below:

Thank you, here are the screenshots.

Thank you for the alerts.

Suggest first clearing your Google Chrome browser by opening your browser and then doing a CTRL + H. This should bring up your browser history. You should see ‘Clear Browser Data’ to the left.

Follow instructions found in attached png file. Be sure to untick what you do not wish to clear/remove.

Additionally, question? Do you have any sort of privacy security extensions running in your Chrome browser? Such as uBlock Origin? If no, then I can provide a list of suggested privacy security extensions if you require.

Privacy security extensions will block malvertising and malware links from appearing in your browser. You cannot click what you cannot see.

Let me know if these steps resolve your issue.

Thank you mchain!

I have deleted the browser history.

Yes, please provide provide a list of suggested privacy security extensions if you have time.

Better now?

Suggested list of browser extensions:

  • uBlockOrigin
  • Privacy Badger
  • DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials
  • Decentraleyes

You can find these security/privacy extensions at the Google Web Store here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/?utm_source=ext_app_menu OR
Google the extension names and go directly to websites:
eg: https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=ublockorigin&atb=v385-1&ia=web
uBlockOrigin has quite an extensive Filter List in addition to their default settings. Currently have over 311,000 network filters enabled, and 246,000 + cosmetic filters enabled.

Result is much faster page loading on any website and no ads loaded with only placeholders visible if I want to click on them (which I don’t as a rule).

Can’t get infected if malicious links don’t load in your browser and you can’t click them. Only install what you need however.

I use DuckDuckGo as my home page instead of default Google home page.

It worked, I deleted the cookies and it went away.

Thank you.

I do have another warning, which I will post in another post.
