What would be the best antivirus?

I’m just wondering, what is the best anti-virus? And can Firewalls work with Anti-viruses, If so which is the best firewall? and is there anything else to help protect myself

I currently have the avast! anti virus
I’m pretty sure I don’t have a firewall

I only want FREE ones

I’ve now got some

Avast!
Spyware Terminator
Crawler Toolbar with web security guard
Spyware Blaster

Are any of those Two of the same firewall, Antivirus Etc. Or is it fine?
Or missing one? - I want an Antivirus, Firewall and one other thing to protect me

You really do need a Firewall
Best antivirus software for 2008 Avast is the Best

And can Firewalls work with Anti-viruses
Yes they work very well together
If so which is the best firewall?

and is there anything else to help protect myself

Thanks, Can I have all 3 of the Other things together?

Or 2+ Firewalls?

One Firewall only
One Antivirus Program only
SpywareBlaster OK
Suggest choose one from
SuperAntiSpyware (Free version non resident)or Spyware Terminator (has resident protection) Have a good read as to what the programs do

Again a best thread… It will be biased as this is avast forum, of course.
If there is any interest, here is my configuration: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=28395.msg231962#msg231962

Well Best is a subjective classification as it must meet your requirements, protect your email, P2P, IM, Web Browsing, etc. etc. the functions or providers that AVs have if those functions/providers aren’t present in the AV then it doesn’t meet ‘your’ needs, so it is almost impossible to suggest what is ‘best for you.’

Add to that you have said it must be free and that will knock out many of the options. Then there is the issue of what OS it will be used with as some free AVs don’t support older OSes.

So we really can’t say what is best for ‘you,’ what is best for me is avast!

What is the best anti-virus?

Of course Avast! ;D

Thanks, You confuse me with this stuff a little

Anyway, I seem to be ok with

Avast!
Spy ware Terminator
And the web security guard.

No crashes or anything

What is the best anti-virus?

It’s the one that keeps your system virus free.
For most of us on this forum that’s been avast!

If you go to some other forums, you’ll most likely get a different opinion. ;D

Well, Spyware terminator found 2 things that avast didn’t.

A tracking cookie
And some Ad.Aware Advantage

Tracking cookies aren’t an issue of security but more on of possible privacy, but even then a very limited one, so scanners make a big deal of them as it seems to justify its presence on the users system and reassure the user. avast doesn’t look for tracking cookies.

Avast!=Antivirus SpywareTerminator Crawler Toolbar with web security guard =Spyware removal protection program Spyware Blaster= Prevention-ware
Stick with the above choices you have made!
Are any of those Two of the same firewall, Antivirus Etc. Or is it fine? Or missing one? - I want an Antivirus, Firewall and one other thing to protect me
None of the above are Firewalls Husk you should give some very careful consideration to installing a Firewall if you do not have one installed

I deleted spyware terminator, There were non-stop messages appearing which I had no idea what they were, Then another program said it was dangerous…

Is Threatfire a firewall?

SpywareTerminator is not dangerous! What another program said it was dangerous?

ThreatFire is a powerful behavior-based protection program that protects against unknown viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, buffer overflows, spyware, etc. You will get many messages appearing from this program also.

Have a look here for a good firewall What Is The Best Free Firewall Today?
There is very little protection software that is “set and forget” You will need to spend some time in learning how to use it.
