What's this Google Chrome is malware threat BS?

I use Google Chrome as my default web browser for years with no problems from Avast then all of the sudden I get popup dialog boxes from my Avast client saying Google Chrome is a threat and malware and then it kills my internet connection. I can not access the internet at all. The only way I can surf the web is to permanently disable Avast. I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it found nothing wrong. So why is Avast saying Google Chrome is a threat when it’s not?

P.S. Get rid of the stupid CAPTCHA’s on this site. I had to try over 50 times before I can post here.

Hi iggy67,

Probably not Google Chrome software as such has any malware issue but your specific Google Chrome browser on your OS has run into an infection of sorts. The executable has met with malware. Blaming Avast or going into denial won’t help.
It could be a FP, but in most cases it is not. The following procedure may however help towards a solution. Produce the demanded logs and get help from one of our qualified malware remover as described here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
