When do I get the box to re-register free Avast?

A couple of weeks ago Avast stated that my registration was expiring in about 1 1/2 months. I went to maintenance>registration but there was nothing for me to update with. Is there a certain time that the box appears? I don’t want my registration to end. Or could I please have the Avast website where I can update my free registration.

I believe the registration options appear when there is a couple of weeks left.

However, given I have just re-registered this avast free version I did it shortly after the 28 days notice was given and the GUI, Maintenance, Registration section had changed to allow re-registration.

EDIT: it just re-registers for one year from the time you re-register, not one year on top of the existing expiry date.

I also always renewed Avast free registration shortly after receiving notification so I wasn’t hounded by the popups, which effectively made the one year registration 11 months. ::slight_smile:

Yes, that is something that changed, it used to be added to your existing expiry date, seems lots of things have been screwed up relating to re-registration, worse for Pro/AIS users as many end up having to get sales to correct the expiry date so they don’t lose out.

Whilst avast free users don’t lose out as such, it does jar when you get on to it right away only to find the 12 months has effectively become 11, not much of an incentive. I remember the good old days when it was 14 months ;D

Thank you everyone. I just checked and my current registration is expiring on 2/15/2013. I’ll just try to be patient until the registration option comes along.

Speaking as a Anti-virus Pro user I have been hounded for the last month with pop-ups. One month out started with panel similar to update size.A couple of weeks ago its became much larger and in the centre of the screen!!! Not normally of a cantankerous nature :wink: but this has prompted me to wait till the last possible moment to renew.
It is a good job that I am an avast! fan or I would get rid of it for harassing me.

The notifications for renewal really need to be reconsidered. I agree that it is a service for the customer, but not when it’s used as a hammer.

I just want to mention that with 29 days left on my registration I was offered the registration box and am now registered for one year. Thanks again everyone.

Anyone who managed to re-register via the pop-up is lucky.

It didn’t work for me in 2012, nor this year in 2013.

I had to get a new licence key emailed - again

The fact that it hasn’t worked for you doesn’t mean it won’t for others or they are lucky.

I have answered your other topic, perhaps that is the one you should be concentrating on.

I just now installed the free Avast program. When I activate it, it will show the “Register” button, but when I click on the button nothing happens. I am connected to a wifi service when I do this.

Any ideas?

If it doesn’t work, use the Off-line registration.
