After a Sality infection, my mouse cursor moves itself to the “southeast” when I click Avast’s system tray icon (only Avast’s, the other ones are ok).
Even after reinstalling Windows 10 (and cleaning both my system SSD and data drive in the process), it doesn’t go back to the normal behavior.
Is this a possible Sality-related problem? What else can I try? I’m out of ideas. My pc is an MSI laptop. The problem with that is that it might indicate the Sality infection is still acting, even though I’ve used other anti Malware tools such as Malwarebytes and Kapersky SalityKiller tool.
Edit: The same behavior repeats itself on another laptop. Basically, when I right-click the Avast icon, the cursor moves “southeast”. It would be great if someone with the latest version of Avast could confirm that… Maybe it’s just a simple application bug.
Doesn’t do that for me.
What avast are you running, free or premium, and what version of avast?
Any other security software installed?
Which software did you use before avast?
@filiposovieira. On latest Avast free v20.9.2437 (build 20.9.5758.609).
When I left click tray icon, mouse pointer stays in place.
When I right click tray icon, menu appears and mouse pointer dissapears “southeast” below the menu.
So depends on whether you are describing left or right mouse click.
Have you tried running full MBAM scan on your machine for second opinion.
I have the same issue, it also persists after a clean OS install. Sality remover from avg returns clean results just like all the scans I ever did (quick deep and preboot + second opinion scans) Anybody has the same issue? Is this a bug?
