When will avast (free AV) have a fix for the Extension in Firefox, still down!

Avast (free av) Extension for Firefox causes Google searches to freeze or crash, when I disable the Extension in Firefox, works perfect and keep in mind this is only in Google searches that there’s a problem!

I made a support ticket for avast concerning this issue, they wrote me back saying I need to completely uninstall avast and reinstall it and that they are working on this fix, did not sound too promising! (working on a fix) …I have seen many people with this issue and and well over a year, wonder how long it will take avast to correct this? I have updated, reinstalled avast, ran boot scans, etc, etc,- the fix needs to come form avast, nothing I can do until they send a patch update!

Here are some threads from Firefox on this matter:

I found yet another example of the “avast! Online Security” add-on causing hangups in Firefox, when searching on Google, this time on the avast forum.

This is only about the extension(s) that Avast add to Firefox and that aren’t fully compatible with the current Firefox release. Avast will have to release an update for their extension. The Avast program itself will still function in the background and protect you.

You can do what I do…disable the AOS in each of your browsers.
I use PrivDog instead.

How about avast fix this, this is well over due… should not have to do that

I’m sure avast is working on a solution. Please keep in mind we are users just like you.

I didn’t “have to” use PrivDog. I have found it’s very easy to use…set it and forget it.

Op have also posted this here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=143590.0

+1 And PrivDog is highly configurable.

Are you aware that Comodo owns PrivDog :o

Yes

+2 Yes!

It still works well with avast. 8)

edit: I use Comodo Firewall w/D+ also.
