Nothing to see in the gui, I need to know if an email attachment was deleted and I can’t find any place to see any reports about any activity in Avast the way I could in Avira. I am in an argument with the sender who swears she sent the attachment and I see nothing, and the only thing new in my system is Avast, which afaik is set to move unrepaired items to the virus chest. It would be nice if I can see reports and determine for myself what is going on when I need to know.
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\log
Vista+: C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log
are you using a mail client? … access your mail account from webmail, and check.
Is the mail there, does it have a attachment? … if not, avast did not remove it
OK, so bottom line there is no way to read any reports in Avast about activity other than shutting it down to open the log files in a text editor. Guess I will keep looking for an Avira replacement.
No need to shut it down.
I tried to open several log files and could not because they were in use. Anyway went back to Avira, as my system started slowing down severely and I was just getting used to Avast up to that point, and realized I would have to shut down everything except the av module if I wanted to continue using it, so it’s gone and thanks to all who replied. At least I know all of Avira’s faults and how to deal with them.
You’re welcome. Bye.
