Hello dear Sir/Madam,
I need to download and use legally Avast free antivirus home edition 4.8.1368 from third party websites on my own responsible for eventually malwares, and to use it for strictly personal, non-commercial usage, without any warranty or support. I know it is old version, not more supported, but I need it as compatible version for my old computers and old Windows operating systems. I emailed Avast company for permission, to download it in these terms, from any more secure, famous third party website but they ignored my request, they asked me about buying new professional version of Avast av.
Hi, v4.8 isn’t supported anymore - no VPS updates.
AVAST says it still supports back to Windows XP 32bit. If your OS/hardware are older then you have a problem because not even Microsoft Security Essentials works with Win XP now ie. it does not update the AV definitions.
If not there is one I know that still works perfectly back to at least Win XP 32bit. The reason I know this is because I needed much lighter weight AV protection than AVAST for use on virtual machine using that OS. This is on a host PC running AVAST. I’ve just checked and it also says it supports Win 2000 too
I’m sure AVAST will not want me to mention a ‘rival’ AV provider by name here even though it is for a purpose AVAST do not themselves cater for, so I’ll try to do it subtly - World Wildlife Fund.

Old versions (v8 and above) can still be found on file puma here: https://www.filepuma.com/download/avast_free_antivirus_21.10-30629/
The problem with those archive web sites is that they almost always list old online installer versions and if you try to use any of them they will automatically update to the latest version whether you like it or not.
If there is an archive which has genuine older offline installers I’d be interested to know myself.
