I’m trying to set up an exception to ignore a keylogger program that’s used to monitor teen’s on-line activity. One post here states, "For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…
For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…"
But that advise was on a 2008 post, I cant find any ‘a’ blue icons. Has this changed to something new in the latest version??
I also don’t want system to prompt user since teen will thwart it every time (of course).

yes...years ago...the blue icon was on avast 4.8....after that orange ;)
see the icon in top left corner of this forum....then look in lower right by your sytem clock
Oh…the ‘a’ blue icon was referring to “how to open the running program itself”?
PONDUS: I was way past that and was hunting all over inside the program, setting, exception lists, etc.
ASYN: To answer your question, Avast! detects it as: Threat: Win32:Spyware-gen [Spy]
I think I may have found the answer to my own question…I went to Real Time Shields, then File System Shield, then Expert Settings, then Exclusions and Add (and I added the path to the keylogger program and check the boxes for all three options W, R, X. I’ll reboot and see if it works now. And yes…I went to the Virus Chest and restored the entry there.
In case I’m going down the wrong path/trail…please feel free to provide guidance for my next attempt(s). In advance, THANK YOU!!!
ASYN, if you’re concerned it may be a real threat, I strongly doubt it since it is highly rated by cNet and various other reputable sources. The All In One Keylogger is by Relytec and can be found at www.Relytec.com.
I’m simply trying to find a way for it to run on this computer with my exceptions/exclusions.
I found Exclusions in the Settings for Quick Scan and Full System Scan. I can’t find an Exclusions setting for Boot Scan, which I guess may be OK since it doesn’t automatically run with every Restart/Reboot.
Is there a way to hide/lock out my daughter’s account (Windows XP SP3) so she cant click the Orange “a” icon to open the Avast! program and see the log files, etc.???
I set the exclusions and set the Boot Time Scan to run with my next Restart with action ASK. I’ll see how that goes. I assume future restarts/reboots wont run the Boot Time Scan unless a user specifically schedules it.
The boot-time scanner is an expert feature, and was designed to be used when there’s something bad going on on the system. And in these cases, I’d say that having to actually select the actions manually is a small price to pay.
so for you weekly/monthly scan use quick/full.......i only run full if quick detect something

I put the necessary keylogger folder into the (I guess) Main Exclusion list (SETTINGS in upper right corner of Avast! UI). I also made sure it’s in the Quick Scan and Full System Scan exclusion settings. I think all is fine. Thank you both. ;D 8)
