Which Antispyware best with AVAST Home?

Hi

I have been using AVAST Home since July and am very impressed with it. From the forum here, I noticed there was mention of Ewido as a good anti-spyware to run with AVAST. I have been trialing the v4 and is now expired. A week or so ago, AVG AS has replaced Ewido 4 with alot of for/against discussions…

Anyway, I now know that Ewido is still a anti-malware program and the AS tag is purely marketing.

What I would like to know of a good anti-spyware program that will work well with AVAST. Does not have to be free. I understand malware/trojans will be detected by AVAST?

  Avast "detects" trojans, but I am under the impression it
  rarely is able to "quarantine/move to chest" them .
  I do NOT know of any antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN program
  that does NOT work well with Avast .
  I have been using the "free" version of Ewido for quite a
  long time and plan on continuing to do so .
  Over the last month I have been using the "Free" ver of
 "SUPERantispyware" from www.superantispyware.com ;
  their "emphasis" is to stay on top of the latest malware
  threat .
  Should NOT consider using an antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN
  UNLESS it is on the "Trustworthy" list at :
  www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm .

If I can suggest FREE ones (all trusted by www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm):
Spybot, Ad-aware (both well-known) and…
a-squared
Free AVG Antispyware
SUPERantispyware
Spyware Terminator

They could be used in the same computer without conflicting. Only the last one has a resident protection (on free versions).

New guy here.
Spyware Terminator is a good program, but DO NOT use the clam av that comes with it. If you do, you will lose the ability to move files in the c:\programs folder. It’s a newly discovered bug and there is a fix, but it’s a PITA.

Also you Could Try Windows Defender. Free and has resident protection, its still in beta though

There have been a number of topics on this subject so a forum search for antispyware, etc. should return much information, not to mention there are most of the popular ones already mentioned on this topic.

Visiting the www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm and view the Trustworthy list which Spiritsongs mentioned will keep you away from the more exotic and rogue programs.

  Many are having problems with the latest ver of
  SpySweeper and there is NO need to BUY such a
  program when there are good & FREE ones
  available . Even heard that SpySweeper "Support"
  recommends "disabling" their "Keylogger Shield " .

I had problems with Spysweeper 5.0 (before they release the updated version). After I install the update it everything works fine. No slow down. Nothing. I know a few that have Spysweeper 5.0 and dont have a problem (before and after the updated version: 5.0.7.1608). I do like Spysweeper and consider it to be the best. It worth the money. Spysweeper has good protection for everything. Thats why I recommened it to others. This is just my opinion though.

I use Spyware Terminator for realtime antispy/hips, Clam AV disabled. Don’t need Clam with Avast. Comodo Firewall, demand scanners Spybot,AdAware, Superantispyware,Asquared, Bazooka, and CWShredder. Immunity, SpywareBlaster&Guard, And Winpatrol. All Free.

Sorry, that could have been clearer. “immunity” is not a program, not one that I know, anyway. It was intended to mean the category of protection provided by the following 3. (and also spybot’s teatimer, if activated.)
