Which is which?

I seem to have Avast licenses for:

Avast Internet Security and
Avast Pro Antivirus.

Do they both do the same thing?
Do I need both?

Seems I can only activate one license at a time.

So which one should I use to keep my computer safe?

Thanks much for the help…

Rich

The Avast Pro only has the antivirus and avast firewall.

The AIS would be your better option, see https://www.avast.com/en-us/compare-antivirus for a comparison of features.

Although this doesn’t show Avast Pro, it only has the firewall in addition to what is in avast free,

Hi David
I’m confused, and also not hard to do, but you mention Avast Pro has the Avast Firewall and I thought that the Firewall was only included in AIS and UP
I personally thought that Avast Pro Anti-virus never included a Firewall :-\

See here: https://www.avast.com/en-ca/pro-antivirus

Maybe it’s my memory as I haven’t run Avast Pro for years.
What am I missing ???

I’m going back a very long way also and Avast Pro pre-dates AIS by some considerable time. At that point as far as I can recall the only difference between avast Free and avast Pro was a firewall.

It has also been some time that Avast Pro was taken of the Avast programs that you could purchase/select for a new license other than for renewal of a Pro license.

Now we have a plethora of different versions, the edges are even further blurred and perhaps my mind too

EDIT: However, for whatever reason, for the OP AIS would be the better of the two licenses he has to use.

Yeh you’re right, just lost it for a moment. ::slight_smile:

Hi guys, probably no need to discuss it, as there soon will be only Free or Premium Security.

And that is another good decision by Avast, I think not :o

Guess it’ll depend on the price - if it’s too high, Pro/AIS customers might jump ship…

That doesn’t seem to be a concern for marketing.

Don’t forget that Omni is current in beta and it requires the Premium product.

Guess I missed that. ???

Yet another tie in, why it requires the Premium product is beyond me, surely it could be stand alone (given there is hardware ? ) or just a minimal AV requirement.

When you start adding all of these bolt ons, that avast pushes, Secureline VPN, etc. Avast becomes a very expensive prospect.

I have never been a fan of suites, jack of all trades, master of ? ? ?
I have always chosen individual products that best suit my needs, I guess I#m in the minority as some people don’t have the time to do the research. Avast and other companies are hovering these people up.

I’ll be blunt, I’m not liking this direction at all!

See you back on Avast free and win10 firewall soon then ?

Well David, that’s one of the options I’ve gone with, in past years…
The cost/price as mentioned will definitely be a determining factor
