Why ALWIL processing virus reports so slowly?

I’m a enthusiast of avast.I come from China.
Many times,I and my friends find plenty of virus that are not detected by avast.So,I send them to virus@avast.com,and I have compress them as a ZIP with the password ‘virus’ .
And I use tezuke@163.com send the reports.The mailbox can incept the mails from register@avast.com. SO,I think my mailbox has no problems.
But,a month of Sundays past,the latest version avast still can’t detected them!
Why?Is it possible that ALWIL not process the reports from China?

There’s no general answer to this question.
You’d have to get in touch with the people behind the virus@avast.com mailbox to find out the details…

I’ll try to get someone from the virus lab to have a look at this thread.

Considering how Kaspersky Labs only has 8 or 9, it might be around the average number.

Alwil’s response time is certainly nowhere near Kaspersky’s, though. :frowning:

Not to be too negative but it’s still lower than 9 :stuck_out_tongue:
Keep in mind that Alwil is one of the AV’s who is making the most progress in all aereas, so I am sure that Alwil will come up with a sollution to enhance the user experience on that issue :wink:

I think 7 is very few… So because of it Avast! don t have good detection… :-
There is 2 ways make it better:

  1. Make Avast! heuristic that way he can detect 40-50% of unknown viruses ( like nod32) or…
  2. Work too hard and add to signatures all of samples Alwil receive per day, (like Avira).

In the and… Avast! will #1 AV in the world, if the will do both at the same time ::slight_smile:

I guess there’s still the question of why Alwil hasn’t tried to fix this problem sooner. Having ItW malware samples going undetected for months is not funny. :frowning:

But I agree…103 should be better :wink:

And I think avast have good detection, but it can always be improved, so good could be best… :slight_smile:

 I'm a avast! user who come from China.   8)  The situation of computer virus in China is quite complicated, 80% of the computer virus is Trojan Horse. But unfortunately,It seems that avast! is not very sensitive to them :-[
