Currently using 5.0.677, I always enable Automatic Program Updates (as well as antivirus updates), but no new versions of Avast! have made themselves into my computer. Antivirus updates work fine but program updates are not downloading and installing. I’ve noticed this on my computer, my wife’s computer, and any customer’s computers who’ve had the misfortune of needing their computers worked on recently (I always enable Automatic Program Updates because I don’t trust them to keep up with it). What’s the point of enabling automatic program updates if it’s not going to automatically download and update to the latest version available?
I dont have auto applied for program update’s but avast let me know that there was an update waiting, with it set to auto i could be in the middle of something when avast need’s to reboot.
Well it works for me if you read the first part of my post and if it was on auto it would have done it as it had notified me, and try to keep your posts to one thread.
I think that the auto program update checks are temporarily suspended with the pre-release build under test. There would be little point in doing a program update if in the very near future there is another program update.
That may mean if you have build 5.0.677 it won’t update to what was 5.1.864 (if it was suspended, you would effectively have the latest version), because of some issues with that build the pre-release build was notified for those experiencing problems so it can be tested.
Hopefully that will be complete soon and it can be released as a regular update which can be done through the avastUI or auto program update check.
Well, I’m glad that it works for you but that doesn’t help me. And I have no idea what you’re talking about regarding keeping my posts in one thread, this is the only thread about this particular auto-update issue that I’m posting in. The other thread I’m posting in is about trying to manually upgrade my Avast! to 884. -kd5-
I still have one machine using the version you are using, and it still gets automatic updates. You may want to make sure your machines date/time/year is correct, then try an Avast Repair to see if this fixes your problem:
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
He is talking about auto ‘program’ updates not virus definition updates. On the regular program update stream there have been no recent program updates (and 5.1.864 may be suspended pending the release of the pre-release version).
