hi guys,

Why does it lack a number of features when Avast was installed with compatibility mode while installing with normal mode on the computer with other AV programs, it has full features?

I have not tried a Compatibility install.

But just guessing blindly…most of Avast!'s features are running real-time. And thats not what you want with Compatibility install, you are installing it as just a scanner, nothing running real-time. So there is no reason for them to be there, they would cause nothing but trouble.

yeah, I agree.
But i tested to known. And i want know what happen with: FileSystem Shield, P2p Shield and IM Shield? as i known Filesystem Shield is main componant of Realtime.

Odd…maybe its the opposite of what I thought, maybe instead of being a on demand scanner it installs just the Web-protection elements of Avast!? ???

As I said, I had not tried it so I had only assumptions.

Does it seem to be working okay so far?

I find everything on the screen shot absolutely normal: the only missing shield is the file shield, ie the main shield and the only one that could conflict with other AVs >>> so that’s compatibility mode and that’s what we expect :wink:

ps: as to express install, it installs everything, so what?

I saw a screen shot on the web that when you install avast it had three options, express- custom-compatible. I only saw two when I installed, express-custom. Where did you find the compatible or how did you install that mode?

I installed manually v.1407.

I used the link provided by Vlk for the download and installed manually, I did not see it. What do you mean by manually? I have pro, does this make a difference?

I just noticed you have internet security, is it not available for pro?

I have pro on two computers but have another I would like to test this compatible on does anyone know if it will be available for Pro or Free avast?

You obviously weren’t concentrating while installing as the option is there in all versions :wink:

Of course it is possible since I only learned of compatible mode after I install v7 but I have seen a screen shot of the three choices and do not remember that. Is it possible that since I download the link that was first posted by Vlk in the thread here last Friday that it was added later with an updated link?

Even I didn’t saw the compatibility mode with the 1407 latest installer.

Finally,

  • install in Compatibility mode - not full features => avoid conflict ?
  • To compress install - full everthing => will conflict with other AV?
