I sended a large amount of undetected viruses long ago,and they are still undetected. Someone also sent me an archive full of viruses and like 30 of them were not detected. Also lots of trojans (reports from my friends and their relatives) were not detected (sorry but i don’t have any sample of it,because they deleted them).
I think you should add definitions for every virus even if its very unimportant. Than those peoples scan with some other scanner and they see that they still have nasty things (after avast! scan) on their hard disk and avast! is getting bad reputation with every such event.
I understand how it’s with these things, but most peoples don’t.
If you need those undetected ones,i can resend them, because i’m still storing them. Also improving some form of heuristic detection for Standard Shield or better generic detection would be good thing to impliment (soon) to keep step with the others (BitDefender and NOD32 are very good in this field)
I second that :
Last Dec., I sent some samples of the ByteVerify trojan , Alwil added the trojan in VPS 0311-6, 16.12.2003 …
I scanned the same infected zip file last week and avast4 missed them all ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
I resent them again t oAlwil but did not receive a reply untill now…

we are currently receiving more than 300 mails to virus @avast.com together with samples daily. We are analyzing all of them and if they are viruses/trojans, which we do not detect, we are adding them into the database - but if it is not an emergency sample, it could take some time before it appears in it. We are unfortunately not able to answer ALL those mails…
Only in special cases with false alarms and only temporarily - before we change the detection. I can’t remember removing any class viruses from the database ???
We’ve made some changes in detection these viruses, maybe we’ve missed something.
Could you please send these undetected infected files again
