If i could please,I would like to invite avast forum members what changed after v5 which made avast transform into an ad-ridden bloated crap.?
Intelligent and informative answers which are non fanboy would be very much appreciated.and welcomed.
I must re-iterate that post v5 has become foul and intersposed with garbage and a clear and precise explanation has never been given.
Possible causes.
1.change of staff.
2.corporate greed.
3,laziness.
4.no clear itinerary for the product.
5.desperation.
Any possible ideas or solutions please.?
Thank you.
Sorry but forum users are hardly likely to be privy to why additional components are added, much less having been avast users going back to avast v5 and or even earlier.
I feel your questions and fanboy comment are more akin to trolling, than genuine concern.
There is nothing stopping any avast user doing a custom install and only adding the components that they actually want or need.
You have the freedom to choose which components to install. So you can make custom Avast based on your needs. Bloatware is very generic term. You will find users here on forum who might use browser cleanup or software updater useful, and you find them as bloatware. Fine that’s your choice, so don’t install them.
I don’t get it why people scream about so called “bloatware” when the only thing one could consider “bloatware” is SafePrice which really isn’t relevant to security. The rest is, even if tiny bit when you take whole thing into consideration.
Besides, custom install has been there for years and for some reason people still don’t know about it for some reason. Or you can even remove components you don’t want from Settings → Components or by using Program and Features → Avast Free Antivirus → Modify.
How quckly you change your dance to fit the music.
Whine, whine and more whining was all you ever done and here you are before me defending the bloat.A truly incredible transformation in mentality and viewpoint.
Jekyll and Hyde anyone…?
But as the saying goes…a truthsayer has no friends and i will be damned if i shall stand back and lie and say avast is a great light program with no issues…
No issues i hear the crickets say…!
well a quick look through this forum will dictate otherwise and to deny their very existence is both incredibly close-minded and approaching hysteria.
I am only stating the obvious and the ball is in avasts court as to whether the product as a whole needs a complete overhaul…
Back to the drawing board chaps and have a rethink.
Look, one thing is complaining over legit things to make them better because they aren’t there or they are broken. What you’re requesting is ALREADY there, you’re just refusing them to use because you apparently have a grudge against me. Click custom install and untick EVERYTHING you don’t need. You can even go as far that you’ll have NO shields installed, just a GUI with on-demand scanning capability. If you already have it installed, go to Components page and remove everything you don’t like. It’s the same as removing stuff during installation using Custom mode.
Is that not a reasonable functionality? Or are you proposing something else? At the end of the day, avast! is a company and as such, profit driven. But they do give you flexibility to deselect or uninstall features you don’t need.
@ Arnold72,
Unless your system came pre-installed with Avast with it’s default settings, the only one guilty of installing “bloatware”, is you.
If you don’t want something installed, simply omit it from the custom install.
But, you already knew that.

After making these statements - exactly what kind of response were you looking for?
It’s obvious that the troll comes here to feed time and time again. What boggles me is that he is still allowed to post on this forum considering how many people, including Avast employees, he insults. Any response to this topic will result in more insults. That’s why he is here. It’s not the first time.
I don’t know any other forum that is as lenient as this one. If he were to do this at Wilder’s he would be banned swiftly and he knows it.
Isn’t it time to lock this topic before it gets out of hand?
I must re-iterate that i dont hate avast at all and i apologise if that is the incorrect impression given.
If members had read my initial post carefully they would realise i was just trying to get to the "nitty gritty! of the current avast situation.
As for trolling…well.
i see all subsequent replies after mine were neither informative or intelligent but were mere insults.I did request intelligent replies as to why the bloat has been offered or indeed incorporated into avast and not one of you answered that inquiry with any form of intellect but instead threw back schoolyard bantering.
Now please may i ask you to reply with some informative replies.
@Arnold72, I believe MartinZ and others answered your question way back early on the first page, your opinion of bloatware is different to what some others may think or want and the option to remove any component not wanted is available to those that wish to strip it right back to bare bones.
@ Arnold72
Your posting style is aggressive and as I said bordering on trolling, with these kind of aggressive posts, what do you expect.
Your 5 causes, really can’t be serious, how can others consider them to be serious and not trolling.
You have had a response from a member of the avast team and moderator, there is your answer to how to deal with what you consider bloat, but what others may call additional protection.
It is your system and your choice as to what AV you install on it. I’m done wasting my time any further on this and I suggest others do the same as you don’t like the answers that you got.
