Why is AOS plugin not being updated?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/avast-online-security/

I’m talking about this one. I prefer using the addon because it syncs with my other addons across all computers instead of doing it manualyl which always messes up Firefox syncing in the long run…

But the one on Firefox page is quite outdated now…

Anyone?

C’mon, is it really that difficult question or something?

Hello RejZor. Just now I submitted a support ticket to Avast Support about why AOS plugin is not being updated. I will let you know the results.

Hi Rejzor. Got a reply back via Avast Support ticket about why the AOS plugin has been updated?

This is the reply that I got:

“The plug-in was not changed along with the antivirus update. When it is, the update will arrive automatically within browser and antivirus updates.”

Basicalyl what they are saying, the one on Firefox Add-ons page is outdated and we don’t care. Ugh!? I don’t like add-ons that can’t be synced (local ones) because they always F up the Firefox syncing.

I don’t know much about the Avast Online Plugin add-on for firefox and why it hasn’t been updated on a regular basis. Perhaps of the rapid release of Firefox version/Avast still working on an update. Maybe they will release a new version of the avast online plugin early next year as avast will get an update of it’s own program (SP2).

I don’t use firefox anymore so I don’t know what is going on? I use only chrome. I just gave them a support ticket to Avast about your concern. Just gave you my assistance to you

Well, the new updated plugin is in avast! 2015. But not on Firefox page…

Well you should contact Firefox via their forum.

I rather doubt firefox/Mozilla and the add-ons would be interested, it is up to developers to submit new/updated add-ons - not for Mozilla to chase add-on providers.

It was updated on Dec. 6 2014 on Firefox 31.3.0 ESR.

If you read the topic we aren’t talking about updating through avast - which it would be when there is a firefox or avast program update. We are talking about the version that is on the addons.mozilla.org link (direct download for AOS) given by RejZoR. That is still showing 9.0.2022.

Okay DavidR.

I have to agree with you, but since Mozilla maintains and provide add-ons for free because it is their link after all shouldn’t Mozilla provide an update after approval from Avast. Also when Avast comes up with a new version of AOS shouldn’t Avast let Mozilla know that there is a new version of AOS and should be available via the Mozilla Add-on website. Let’s see if Avast will update the AOS in the next update of Avast program in early 2015? I will try to PM one of the Avast Team member about this topic.

@ Staticguy,

I will try to PM one of the Avast Team member about this topic.
Simply use the "Report to Moderator" function. that's what it's there for. :)

I thought “Report to Moderator” function is for only if some users use offensive language and you report them to the moderator to delete them :).

Then I guess you now learned something.

  • I learned something new :). Thanks for letting me know

@RejZor: I have sent an PM to MartinZ about your query. I will wait for his reply. He may reply back here. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Happy holidays and safe travels

Hi,

the plugin in FF store is obsolete. We uploaded the plugin to the store some time ago in order to make the updates easier, but unfortunately the approval process is very long on Mozilla side. So we then decided to try a different solution with automatic updating from our own servers. This solution is now being tested.
