Why is Avast Free for Mac?

Hi,

I installed Avast for Mac and really like it. But why is it free? If I’m not paying them don’t they have to make money some other way such as monitoring my browsing or something like that in order to sell information to advertisers?

Why not, windows users get a free version. There is also the pro version which does cost

Pro Antivirus 7.x for Mac you'll need to have it already installed on your Mac.

No data or ads just a nice free antivirus what could be better

Yes, I agree it is nice it is free but why is it free? How does the business model work?

If you use avast in firm you need to buy avast pro for Mac

Avast don’t sales directly this version, you can buy only from reseller net.

And minus: Avast Pro don’t have special features and = Free for Mac. I don’t know why Avast don’t do it some special things for not free version.
