why is avast so basic looking for ubuntu ???
is there any skins that can be added,can i change the colours

What you don’t like the GTK look? If so your not alone, but it gets the job done which is what matters the most.
Many antiviruses have a NICE GUI but a poor detection rate 
I precise I use Avast in commandline mode wich is not really…nice !!! but strongly efficient.

Where are you trying to scan and are you doing it as root or a normal user?
If you are trying to scan anywhere other than your home dir you may want to try to run it as root.
well i am trying to do a scan on the entire system
it does not ask me for my password ,should it ?
Seems you’re not running avast as root… maybe you won’t reach all the files (scan them).
Which is your Linux?

my linux is ubuntu,fiesty fawn with kubuntu desktop
thanks,just did a full scan in terminal,with sudo avast command
it found no probs
but how do i get avast to do full scan with out using the command in terminal ? or is this the only way to do it ? ???
Change the link on desktop to sudo avastgui.
There is no other way, as far I know. You must run it in root. It’s like in Windows Vista.
To run an antivirus with admin rights you must have an user interaction.
