Is it Avast “Smart Scan” that is making you worry that your computer is not safe?
At the end of the scan it will highlight additional security weaknesses and offer additional Avast software products that may protect you from them. This can be described as upselling.

If you are satisfied that Avast Premium Antivirus product provides you with sufficient malware protection, true for most people, then ignore the advertising. Some of us do not run Smart Scan as Avast real-time shields provide adequate protection, therefore scanning for malware is not really necessary unless you think you have been infected with malware.

Note I am not an Avast Team member, just another user.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.
