Why no scanning notification?

Why was scanning notification removed? I liked the way avast! was notifying me about starting the scanning of the installed app and saying me that its clean. Something like Symantec and DrWeb still do. You can make it optional, but i’d like to see it as an option because i personally like this.

are you on the newest, official release? my complaint was on beta.
is your Notification icon checked or unchecked in the avast GUI?

I’m using the official release version and i do have the icon enabled.

I will take a look at this tomorrow. Everyone here just loves to play with the icon so we might have missed something

It’s disappointing that a loud bunch of people who prefer to be kept in the dark caused this change.
If we’re going to play yo-yo games, I’m thinking of going back to Dr.Web. Because while the lack of scan notifications themselves are not show stoppers (if you trust avast and I do on the PC), what if the developers decide to scan nothing when people asked to scan nothing or other funny change for whatever funny reason.

Well, it’s only a notification icon. There wasn’t any change in scanning and we definitely won’t remove any sort of protection based only on a few voices here. The on-install shield works.

I’ve just installed current version from market and I see those notifications (“Scanning installed app”) if I keep the icon in the notification bar.

Well, i haven’t seen any during app updating. Yet DrWeb was showing the scanning notification even during app updates. After all, even clean app can become bad with an update. avast! was doing that during beta as well but now it’s not.

Unfortunately, I don’t see any available update on my device. We’ll check this. Thanks for the report. If it doesn’t scan on updates then it’s a bug.

I have just updated Dolphin Browser HD and I got the scan notification (have the notification icon turned on of course).

Ok, updated one app and now i’ve seen it. It’s ok then i guess.
