Why won't avast! Free antivirus install after restart, and there is no AvastUI?

Hello, I have trouble installing Avast on my Lenovo M90 5391 SF. It still promts the restart after setup window but no const, and when I try to scan, error pop up appears and it says Avast UI.exe is not launched, but there is no AvastUI.exe. Help!

  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

It is Windows 8.1 x64 and I didn’t install any other antivirus software at all. Here is all info I have.

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

I tried everything you listed and, it won’t finish the installation, the icon is not on the desktop, and asks me for AvastUI.exe to start but there is no AvastUI.exe.
