WiFi Inspector False Positive

Hello,
I am new to this forum, but not new to wireless networks. I am running Avast! Free V 17.4.2294 (Build 17.4.3482.0) on my Windows 7 PC and have an concern with the report for the WiFi Inspector that may possibly be a false positive for a router vulnerability.

My router is a Netgear R7900 with the latest firmware installed (V1.0.1.12_10.0.17). The referenced vulnerability is 'Service is vulnerable to attacks from within your network. Catalogue ID CVE-2017-5521. Everything points me to the latest firmware which is already applied.

I have also applied every suggestion from Avast! in an effort to remedy this notice. Turned off remote access. Dynamic DNS is off. The Admin password is not the manufacturer’s default value. UNnP is off. All of the NetGear Ready Share services are disabled. I have even internally blocked the remote management port inside. IPv6 is off.

I have tried to remote access the router from the suggested external IP Address from a outside host and was unable to open a connection and verify the exploit.

While I not sure what more I can do on this I have tried all of the obvious steps to verify the issue is real. So I am seeking in for some additional suggestions that are not of the snarky nature please.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Latest firmware version is 1.0.1.18, not the one you mentioned.

Thank you for the nudge. The update feature on my router wasn’t aware of a newer firmware. Had to visit the website and get it.

All seems to be better now.

Appreciate the assistance.

Mike
