Will Avast expose my adress?

I just want to be ahead of this, but I’ve seen several times now that Avast keeps showing popups about it knowing my location (even though most of the time it’s of by several miles(tens of kilometres ::slight_smile: )) but recently its been showing my IP address on these popups.

And as I stream sometimes, be it trough Discord, Steam or OBS to Twitch, can I rest assured that Avast will know that I’m streaming and won’t show my private details to the internet without my consent?

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?

sorry for the late replay, but this was the up to date version of Avast internet security on the date of creation.

I’ve gone through some settings to disable popups and whatnot, so I’ve not gotten any of these in the recent time.

Sounds like the popup trying to get you to buy Avast Secureline (VPN)

Absolutely, I get this a lot and I’m no closer to buying Secureline VPN from when I first got it ;

Today I got the proverbial someone could be using my webcam, bloody good luck to them. I like bob3160 have a sticker over mine. Even better when I get this on my winXP system, I have a little chuckle about it, considering this is a desktop system and NO web cam.

Having DUMB ads like this doesn’t fill you with confidence that it can do the job.

Yes this has been an on-going story that I don’t see changing.
I’m a bit curious as to how Avast’s new CEO sees these idiotic adverts.

Exactly, adverts really have to be Smart NOT Dumb, its like throwing cr4p at the wall to see if some of it will stick.

Frequency really does need to be addressed, not every time you do something that doesn’t like when looking over your shoulder.

Avast (free or otherwise) has a privileged position being installed on my system sand that position shouldn’t be abused with this kind of dumb frequency.
