Will not display SOME graphics

After installing the version 4.7, a first time installation of Avast, I can no longer
see anything on Yahoo or Google maps, other than the header at the top of
the page. I cannot access my online banking, I type in the access, but when I
hit enter it just clears the form boxes. (No, I won’t give out my access for anyone
to try! (grin)

I also try to go to www.firehouse.com - most pictures show, but the slideshow
that normally comes on the left hand side about 2 inches down the page no longer
display, not the show, but the viewer window also.

Any ideas?

AMD processor

1.25 ghz processor
using IE 7

Which is your firewall?
Do you use any proxy application? Like an anonimizer?

I am using the firewall that is included in my cisco router, just a small home box. It is in the firmware

I did not have this problem before installing Avast.

I can open this website but can’t see any slideshow either…

Are you sure you didn’t change the script options of IE or Firefox?
Are you using the standard security level for Internet area (security tab of settings for IE)?

Javascript Test can help you determine whats the javascript problem…

It says that javascript is being blocked by a program other than my web browser.

What other security program are you using, specially, any whit firewall behavior?
avast does not block any script. Just scan them IF you’re using the Professional version.
The avast Home (free) does not even have this feature.

I am not running anything that I know of. If I was, how would Avast
change those security programs? Remember this only happened when I
installed Avast.

avast won’t change but the two programs could be interacting each other and changing the final situation… Did you have any other antivirus in the past in this computer?

Yes, I had the great evil - Norton 7

Please, check which one is your case:

Then, follow the website instructions and remove all leftovers from NAV.

Thanks, that worked. I am now taking any CD’s that have any evil Norton program I have, taking them outside, and destroying them. Then I will take the evil remains, and bury them with warnings to all who follow in the future never to try to run them on their computer.

Nothing should be that difficult.

Thanks all again!
