I’ve woke up today with a rather rude BSOD on my computer. initially i had put it to sleep last night and this morning the computer automatically went to a screen saying the main bios is corrupted and that its backing up to a previous version of bios. after that screen windows wont boot up and gives me a split second worth of information in the BSOD before it restarts. after several attempts to boot up, i tried to boot up in safe mode. however, safe mode hangs on aswrvrt.sys, then reboots or just goes black. i saw that a lot of people had this problem on this site and followed some of the advice Essexboy gave out to other users. luckily for me i can open my command prompt on system recovery options and was able to run FRST.EXE. i thought I’d be able to understand it but eh, i guess I’m not that computer savvy yet. can anyone help me out? I’d rather exhaust all my options before i have to back up all my files then start from scratch.
I do not know if the computer was plugged in to a power point, but that error usually indicates a power surge
What make of computer do you have ?
I will try a last reg and see if that helps
Download the attached Fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that
Thanks for the reply, i actually already tried that fixlist and it didn’t help. I then used another fixlist you gave to someone else that removed avast and that worked. But then i had a problem with a classpnp.sys driver. I renamed it and then a disk.sys file came up as corrupt, renamed that then some fvl-something or other driver came up messed up. At this point I’ve installed win 7 on my other disk to see if I can salvage any important data like school work and family pictures. My computer is a custom build from ibuypower, I have all the specs here. What do you need to know about it?
The simpler solution would be to disconnect all other drives except for the windows one and try a reboot
