WIN update

WIN update results in YouTube blocked

Not sure how this is related to the Avast Forum - but you don’t give much in the way of information.

What Windows Version, What Update version/build number, etc. ?

I’m using Windows 10 as far as I’m aware up to date and I have no problem connecting to youtube, just been watching some clips.

Hi DavidR
Thank you for the response. I’m sorry for being vague, After a Win update installed itself I could not connect to YouTube, I deleted Avast and YT seemed to work. However on further investigation there is a problem with Threat Protection in NordVPN. I will continue to investigate and post my results here.
Windows 11, version 23H2
2024-10 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5044380)
Thank you for your patience

You’re welcome.

I just wonder if there might be:

  1. Any interaction(conflict) between Avast’s Web Shield and that of the Threat Protection in NordVPN. But I would have expected to see that prior to any windows update. Something you could try rather than delete Avast or disable the Web Shield you could add an Exception for YouTube in Avasts settings. Though that isn’t likely to resolve it (given you removed it), you would have protection in all other areas.

  2. I wonder if the conflict could arise between YouTube and NordVPN if there has been a change in policy/prevention of VPNs (not just NordVPN) at YouTube. I don’t use a VPN so I haven’t had any experience of this.
