I followed the steps to the letter, and all the files are where they are supposed to be, at a loss here… ???

Still searching - no luck as of yet

any new news yet?, was just checking, because I have been researching and coming up empty

Nope I am coming up blank as well… Does the printer work ?

yes, the printer will print, just wont scan…UHHGGGG…

Will reformatting the hard drive fix it?

It may do as it could be problem with the twain drivers - but we are completely in the dark on this

Do you still have the installtion CD that came with the printer? Also the installation instructions? The installation instuctions might be on the CD. Make sure you read all installation instructions throughly and exactly follow them.

Before reinstalling, uninstall anything associated with the printer including the PhotoSmart software. A good product to use for uninstalling and removing all remenants is the free version of Revo Uninstaller: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. Make sure you reboot after uninstalling everything. Then install all required printer software from the CD following the installation instructions exactly.

Note that HP software is garbage and their drivers are worst of the worst. I know since I have an HP laser with known XP driver problems for years that HP never resolved.
