Win32:Agent-ASH [Trj] comdlg64.dll

I have been notified that this Trojan Horse virus is on my computer. I have compeleted a thorough scan of my computer. However, this keeps coming up at the start of my computer. I could use some help (in words I can understand) on how to remove this virus. Thanks a bunch…

Generally, recurring infection are cleaned by:

  1. Disable System Restore on Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];310405
  2. Clean your temporary files.
  3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.
  4. Use a-squared, Free AVG Antispyware, SUPERantispyware or Spyware Terminator (trojan removers).

You appear to have Troj/Loosky-BX go with tech and run AVG if you are on XP

What Operating System are you using ?
Where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?

It could be that there is another trojan element restoring it.

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode.

  1. Ewido, a.k.a. avg anti-spyware If using winXP. or a-Squared free if using win98/ME.

A google search for comdlg64.dll returns many hits.

Hi deb010502,

comdlg64.dll can be a symptom of BraveSentry. If you’re still having problems after trying all the scanners recommended, try running this removal tool:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

It can also be the symptom of a rootkit. Again, if nothing else works, try a rookit scan:
