Win32:CTX

My friend ran a boot-time scan on her computer and it told her that she was infected with Win32:CTX at C:\Windows\system32\activescan\pskavs.dll. I understand this is deemed as a false-positive and is a part of Panda ActiveScan. However, she has never used Panda ActiveScan on her computer. I believe it may be the cause of her BSODs. She isn’t very computer-literate, so to speak, and the best description of when she got her most recent BSOD was when she was on Facebook and she was going to post a comment. When she clicked to post a comment, it hit her. It was probably a coincidence that it hit as soon as she clicked to post a comment, but it still shows that it hit her when she was using her Internet browser. I’ve worked on her computer, and she uses Internet Explorer as far as I know unless she has downloaded Mozilla Firefox since I’ve last seen her computer, which was approximately 2 months ago. Should she just run another boot-time scan and delete the file and hope for the best?

Thanks in advance,

Well somebody must have used Panda. ::slight_smile:

You can simply delete the Panda directory if it’s not needed.

I doubt the BSOD is connected. Your friend should not the code that comes up on the blue screen next time because this can help identify the problem. If the computer reboots before she has time to note the code, disable automatic restarts as described here:
