Avast brings up a box saying “Win32:Dialer-520 [Trj]” has been found in “http://xxx.impotato.com/a412/a571.php?m=1&b=779&c=4\[UPX]”
I don’t know where it is or how to get rid of it. Can anyone help?
Welcome aff501,
You can find the answer here:

One of the anti-spyware programs I recommended fixes it.
thanks! It seems ok now.
Oh No! It came back again. Now what?
What did you do until now?
Did you run a boot time scanning?
Did you scan your computer with ewido?
Do you have a firewall running?
I did a boot time scan and I have scanned with ewido. I don’t have a firewall running. I tried zone alarm a while back but it slowed down my computer and would make it freeze up.
Well then for a good firewall try http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
The option of no firewall and a slow system is a no contest, get a firewall, your system could be completely screwed without one.
Any fight to remove malware from your system without a firewall could be a futile one because as fast as you are removing it others could be taking its place and some may even be downloading more of the same or sending your personal data (usernames, passwords, CC Details, etc.) back home.

Zone Alarm free http://www.zonelabs.com works fine with avast and has a reasonably friendly user interface. There are others, Comodo, Jetico, Sunbelt Kerio, etc.
See some firewall tests for comparison, some are freeware but many are paid for versions http://www.firewallleaktester.com/tests.php.
Hi Aff :
Some of us here use the Sygate firewall; because of the
recently released, but flawed Microsoft Update KB 908531,
it would seem best to avoid the Sunbelt-Kerio Firewall
because it is affected by this "Update".
Aff,
Sunbelt Kerio P.F.W. “free version” is NOT affected by the KB908531 Microsoft update. It is a very good firewall mentioned in one of the above posts. I use the paid for version which is also a good one. There are several choices of firewalls for you to choose from. But, you DO need one to keep your machine reasonably protected.
Kerio/Sunbelt working with the latest MS patch here too. 8)
