win32:Dropper-gen and win32:Rootkit-gen Found

My avast 4.8 detected both of these trojans this afternoon. I did a system scan and put the infected files in the Virus Chest. However, I no longer have internet access and my other programs operate really slow. There are a total of 9 infected files, but I think that I may have a false positive as now I no longer have internet access through internet explorer, but Skype still works. The files are a.exe, A0074840.exe, A0074841.exe, dwm.exe, shell.exe, svhost.exe, trz15A.tmp, trz15B.tmp, trz15C.tmp.

Is there anyone that can help?

Thanks…

Welcome to the forums, twk207

All of those files seem to be related to worms, droppers, and/or other malware.

Perhaps essexboy will help with your problem.

Hello ~ my computer is having very similar issues as this user as of this morning with an AVAST error message of “win32:crypt-hta” and “win32:dropper-gen”. This type of thing is all new to me and I’m not tech savvy at all. Will be interested in any solution you may provide the OP.

@ inajam,

Since your malware problem is different from the OP (original poster), please start a New Topic of your own as this will just confuse the current thread and we will help you there.

Go to this link, http://forum.avast.com/index.php, scroll down to the Virus and Worms section of the forum and click it, click the New Topic button at the top of the list and post there. Thank you.
