I wanted to download an update for IE from start site and it appeared, the mistake occurred and some strange pop-ups were shown. I opened firefox, downloaded and launched smitfraudfix in safe mode. An infection was detected - file was deleted. Then I scanned archives with avast. Program reported infection by win32:FakeAlert, infected file was moved to quarantine directory. Is ma computer in a big danger?
What should I do?

Hi andy1010,
SmitfraudfFix should have cleared the infection, but as a double-check, you could run Ewido anti-Trojan program:
Make sure you have the latest version of Firefox and Sun Java installed, as older versions have security vulnerabilities.

Visit Microsoft Update and ensure you download all critical updates.
Ensure you have a firewall running on your computer, Windows firewall at least, but Zone Alarm Free and Kerio are much better bets because they allow you to control outbound connections so you can block malware from ‘phoning home’, and they are much more difficult for malware to disable in the event of an attack.
