nothing....avast found an infection and removed it...

i guess it was a mail attachment ?

I think it opened it self believe it or not because all I did was open outlook and avast through up a screan stating it had found and moved it to the chest… I have since spocken to iYogi Tech Support but they want to charge me $200.00 to remotely remove and to chech that avast is working.

any idea would be of much help xx

if you right click avast tray icon and “show last pop up” and take a sceenshot of it and post here

you can also take a screenshot of what is in the chest and post here

run a quick scan with avast…

then run a quick scan with this

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.51. http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always update so you have the latest signatures before you scan
click on the remove selected button to quarantine anything found

if anything is found you may post the scan log here

firstly let me say a big thank you to Pondus for all your help…

As it turns out Avast caught this virus and placed it straight into the chest so I wasn`t at risk after all… unfortunately I learnt this the hard way.

I contacted iYogi who told me they were now the reps for Avast Tech Support, so I gave them remote access to my computer and it was during this time I “like a idiot” believe them when they said that this virus was going to crash my system if I didn`t let them remove it…

I payed the $200.00 Au dollars only then to find out it was all bullshit and the only thing that was going on with my PC was that I had been a little lazy with deleting my temp files.

LEASON LEARNT HERE TONIGHT " always check with forum for help when having a problem and if all else fails submit a ticket directly to avast and don`t panic like I did.

again thank you Pondus and please except my apology for not taking your offer of help

Your experience is disgusting - Adam Riley, riley (at) avast (dot) com Avast Third-party Support Manager, has requested info about iYogi, so if you have time to recount your experience (copy and paste your post, etc.), give the link to this topic.

Hi David, I have received the email from Adam and will send reply a little later today…
Thank you BTW very much appreciated.

David could you please help me with one more thing, I downloaded OTS scanner last night from here and I forgot to copy and paste the file that removes it… I have no idea who it was I got the link to download from as I was simply following a post of someone else who was having the same problem as

You’re welcome.

I can’t recall if there is a specific tool for its removal or if there is an uninstall option when you run it again, I have asked someone who does know ;D

Yep it is self uninstalling - run OTS and press the cleanup button… Then 'tis gone

can`t thank you both enough xx

install complete thanks guys

No problem, glad I could help.
