Win32:Malware-gen

Hi,

I’m on Windows 7 and have a Win32:Malware-gen threat that is detected every time outlook receives email after which it comes up with Win32:Malware-gen - this has been moved to the chest,

MALWARE BLOCKED
avast Mail Shield has blocked a threat
No further action is required

Object: Mail\Inbox\document.zip|>document.exe
Infection: Win32:Malware-Gen
Action: Moved to chest
Process: C:\Program Files(s86)\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE

The threat was detected and blocked while sending or receiving an email.

But instead of having been moved, it simply comes up again and again. In fact Outlook tends to crash not long after.

Help!

– (Modified later)

I think I found the reason for the problem.
The avast! was working, however Outlook seemed to be stuck on a particlar message and was continually downloading the offending file.

No need for further investigation, I’ll let you know if there are any more problems.

Thanks!

I get a similar error, which always crashes Outlook 2003.
The offending file is an IRS attachment, so I have to disable the Mail Shield so that I can delete the offending email before Outlook crashes.
