Win32:PUP-gen Virus

I was downloading a program called “McLawl” Because i wanted to make a multiplayer server for a game called minecraft, and when i downloaded it, it was detected to be a Win32:PUP-gen, and i was wondering if this is a false positive? Since alot of people use that program.

PUP == Potentially Unwanted Program.

If i kept it on my computer would it harm it in any way?

etc. etc. etc.

You need to decide for yourself.

And avast is not alone in flagging this as riskware:

Software that is not regularly updated also poses risks to the user*, the software was not designed as malware, but has security critical functions. The user is better off without riskware or PUP’s when the user has not intentionally downloaded the software himself. Additionally there are problems with the updater and users must update themselves: htxp://www.mclawl.tk/ *
