Hi. I’ve seen several other posts and responses on here about win32:pup…the responses say that pup=potentially unwanted program-got that. Last night my computer (Sony Vaio) started acting up while typing, cursor jumping around, etc. I ran a system quick scan which showed 3 “threats detected”, all with the name win32:pup, and suggested I run a boot time scan, which I did, turning up 6 more “infected” files. My questions are: since avast can not repair these infections, should I delete them, or move
Them to sandbox, and will simply moving to sandbox harm my computer in the long run? (if this pup is something malicious, can it harm my system from within the sandbox?) also, where do these files come from? I regularly scan my system and have never seen a pup before, and I did not mess with avast’s settings and turn on pup scanning. Thanks in advance!
Move the files to chest please…its the best and safest option and ensures the safe recovery of the files whenever needed ![]()
And i guess U turned on PUP scan in avast! UI for your system scans…apart from that, the scan for PUP is turned on for the boot-time scan by default itself…so nothing to worry!

If u want PUP’s to be detected in real-time…
go to Avast UI>>>Real-time shields>>file shield>>expert settings>>sensitivity>>check the scan for PUP box and click OK and avast will detect PUP’s in real time and will take care of them automatically just like it does for normal threats
