Win32:Spyware-gen(spy)

Upon running a weekly scan with Avast, 2 instances of Win32:Spyware-gen(spy) were detected. The scan was run automatically late at night. When I checked the scan log the next morning I found the two instances of the virus. When I try to “delete” or “move to chest” the results state “Error: the system cannot find the file specfied(2)”. I have run Avast a number of times again, both in safe mode and regular mode, and no viruses show up in the new scans. What does this mean and how can I be sure the virs is gone? I run Malwarebytes and Superantispyware regularly as well. Neither of those programs have found any viruses. Thank you for your help.

You could use free a-squared to recheck your system…

What were the file names and locations of the detections ?

Remember that the auto action of the scan ‘Move to Chest’ will have dealt with the detections. So you subsequently trying to take action (from the ‘historic scan log’ again it is bound to fail, as the files are snugly inside the chest, so the won’t be found.

That is also why nothing was found on subsequent scans.

GOD. Stop recommending a-squared. Really. It can detect a innocent application as a virus, due to loads of false-positives.
