Welcome to the forums, dwArf.

Since there is a fine line between what is a virus and what is a trojan or worm, try using Ewido to find and eliminate this worm. It can be found at the link below.

http://www.ewido.net/en/

Ewido will come with Guard and automatic updates free for 2 weeks. After that, you can continue to use Ewido for free but you will have to do manual updates.

Thanks very much… enjoy your day

Where does avast find it and what was the file name, example (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?

Why can’t avast get rid of it, what errors, messages were displayed, what actions did you take to remove and what happened after that ?

Windows in its infinite wisdom protects files in use (even malware), so it is likely that avast! can’t delete or move files in use. So schedule boot-time scan in avast’s menu if you have XP, win2k or NT, otherwise boot into safe mode and run an avast scan. This should ensure that the file isn’t in use and avast should be able to deal with it.
