hi, i just got Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other}. can anyone help me to get rid of it???
Without knowing more it is very difficult to give apropiate help.
- What OS are you using?
- What version of Avast?
- What file is infected?
- What is the location of the file?
hi eddy,
sorry for replying you so late, but i was away. the thing is that i’m kind of new guy in this area, so i don’t know how this stuff realy works. only thing that i’m sure of is that i’ve visited SmileCentral (offcourse!), and that AVAST wormed me my computer is infected with virus ‘‘Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other}’’. i’m not even sure that this thing that has infected my computer is virus at all (suspect that this is adware).
i’ve moved the virus in the virus chest and tried to repair it (DIDN’T WORKED! ???). that was the time when i send the message on the forum.
after that, i’ve tried to delete it and the thing has worked!
next thing i’ve done is that i’ve deleted all of the cookies in my Temporary Internet Files that were linked with SmileCentral and from that point on AVAST hasn’t find any infected file!
anyway, i’m still not sure if that was only realy thing to do so.
my current status is:
OS_WINDOWS XP PRO
AVAST 4! HOME version 4.1.501 (i use only this antivirus program)
infected file: C:\DOCUME~1\EMMANU~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ICD1.tmp\f3Setup1.exe [L] Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other} (0)
(hope that this is the stuff you have asked for)
still hoping for yor reply
thanks
sorry for replying you so lateLate? Don't worry. We are very patient here. And besides, I (and the others) have also other things to do.
hope that this is the stuff you have asked forYup, that was it.
Boot in safe mode and remove everything in :
C:\DOCUME~1\EMMANU~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\
Although everything looks fine, let us check it. Better doing some extra work with result that nothing is found than sorry later
Run Ad-Aware and SPybot s&d to see if they still find something. If not, you can enjoy your clean system again. If they do find something, make sure it is not a false positive (not likely that it is but you never know). If it is indeed malware what they find, remove it.
cool! thanks
anyway, is that virus at all?
It is malware. Viruses are just one of the many malware types. Most people speak from viruses when they actually mean something else. And as the name said (trojan-gen) it is a trojan, not a virus
