Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}

After scanning my computer with avast 4.7 it detected Win32:Trojan-gen {Other} and placed it in the virus chest. The file name is otdnauyi.exe, and the original location is in C:\Users\All Users\BIASFREEDEFAULT. Does anyone here familiar with this or know how to properly remove it? Any information you could give me is appreciated. Here is my HiJackThis log.

:slight_smile: Hi :

Your Log showed lots of “leftover” Symantec entries, implying you have NOT
COMPLETELY REMOVED their program(s), which could cause an erroneous
“detection” by Avast . Best to START by running the “Norton Removal Tool”,
available at www.majorgeeks.com/Norton_Removal_Tool_SymNRT_d4749.html

Then get yourself a decent antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN program, like the FREE
Version of “SUPERAntiSpyware” from www.superantispyware.com .

Then since your Java program is 2 “Updates/Versions” behind, uninstall your
current version, then go to www.java.com for the latest .

Lastly, should seriously consider uninstalling the “Viewpoint” program .

the superantispyware wont download for some reason when i hit save it just closes out ??? anyways i did what you said here is the updated hijackthis log . also i didnt read your post correctly and i just used the control panel to remove norton and theres still a live update thing that wont uninstal is it ok if i still use the thing that you posted?

sorry i had to split it up into two posts

As a Vista user I will require that all the programmes I ask you to run, be run by right clicking the icon and selecting Run as Administrator. Otherwise some programmes may fail to do their job properly

Please Download NoLop to your desktop from the link below…
Link 1

[*]First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
[*]Double click NoLop.exe to run it
[*]Now click the button labelled Search and Destroy
<>
[*] When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
[*] Now click the REBOOT Button.
[*] A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log
--If you receive an error, “mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered,” please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program.

You can attach the logs by using the additional options button on the reply page. scroll dwon to see the browse button

It didn’t find any viruses. Is it possible that avast removed it?

End of file - 9492 bytes

I’m afraid they are still there.

Let’s see what they are.

Please submit these files for analysis

To submit a file to virustoal, please click om this link

www.virustotal.com

copy and paste the following into the upload a file box (one at a time if more than one file is listed)

C:\ProgramData\WindowPlayPlay.43lqtgw
C:\ProgramData\IDOL SEEK LOUD.w9q45

scroll down a bit and click “send file”, wait for the results and post then in your next reply.

Ok I sent the files like you told me but it said 0 bytes received, I don’t know if that was what it was supposed to do. Like I said NoLop doesn’t detect anything, and not two minutes ago I came back to my computer after being away for a while and I was running a scan with avast and it said new virus found. I moved it to the Virus Chest. Here’s the info on it. (it’s coming from the same place as the other one)

Virus has been detected!
File Name: SOFTWAREDEAFRDRCITY.exe
FileID: 9
Virus Description: Win32:Agent-TKD [trj]

I went into ProgramData folder and there are two suspicious folders in there from what I see. One is BIASFREEDEFAULT which is obviously where these are coming from, and the other is named: Tool Eggs Less City. I just thought that was a suspicious name for a folder… There is a .exe file in the Tool Eggs Less City folder and I have no idea what it is. I’m afraid it may be another virus as well… :-[ Also the two items in the BIASFREEDEFAULT folder are named: Platform Mp3 and uphgckeq. I sure to hope I’ll be able to get all this straightened out. :-\

No it’s not. Nothing was sent, maybe the file is blocked. Look, files into Chest can be sent directly to VirusTotal, only to avast analysis team. Sometimes, coping it to another folder and submiting it from there (handle with care).

You can extract the file from Chest to another folder and submit it from there.

As a Vista user I will require that all the programmes I ask you to run, be run by right clicking the icon and selecting Run as Administrator. Otherwise some programmes may fail to do their job properly

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press “Enter”.
Choose your usual account.

In Safe Mode, double click SDFix.exe and install to the default location by clicking Install. The SDFix Folder will be extracted to %systemdrive% \ (Drive that contains the Windows directory - typically ‘C:\SDFix’) Open the SDFix folder in Safe Mode then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the fixtool. Type Y to begin the script.

It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot. Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files. When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

It is vitally important that combofix is renamed before it is even started to download

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

[*]If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:
-Tools->Options->Main tab
-Set to “Always ask me where to Save the files”.

[*]During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii277/sUBs_/combofix/CF_download_FF.gif

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii277/sUBs_/combofix/CF_download_rename.gif

[]It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
[
]Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
[]Close any open browsers.
[
]Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix

[*]Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause “unpredictable results”.
[*]Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don’t know how to disable it, please ask.

[*]Close any open browsers.
[*]WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
[]Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
[
]If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

[*]Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]When finished, it will produce a report for you.
[*]Please post the “C:\ComboFix.txt” along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix’s window while it’s running. That may cause it to stall

You can use the additional options button on the reply page to attach the logs.

Thanks.

I extracted the contents of the virus chest to a folder that is setting on my desktop. But it wouldn’t let me upload them to VirusTotal. It said that I had to be the creator of the program to do it, or something like that. And when I went into safe mode and opened the Sdfix folder and double-clicked on RunThis.bat it openes the box up for a split second and closes back out. It does this every time.

The folder you mentioned seemed like a lop infection, but nolop didn’t find any.

Remember with vista, all programs have be run

"As a Vista user I will require that all the programmes I ask you to run, be run by right clicking the icon and selecting Run as Administrator. Otherwise some programmes may fail to do their job properly "

Did you try SDFix like that? right click the RunThis.bat Try it and no matter the result, procede with combofix. Remember right click. :wink:

Ok, I’m in safe mode I go into “C:\SDFix”, right click “RunThis”, run as administrator. Same thing is happening. ??? I’m proceeding to combofix like you said. Also Avast found another trojan in BIASFREEDEFAULT.

Ran the Combo-Fix like you told me. I’ll post the log and a new HiJackThis log as well, but how do you insert like a link to the wordpad or something instead of me pasting it all on here?

use the additional options button on the reply page. scroll down a iif you can’t see the browse button.

See image.

sorry

Hi.

According to the combofix log it was ran twice. Please post the other one before doing the following steps. It will be at C:\combofix. It will have the earlier time stamp. I need it to see what was removed so far. Thanks.

Open HJT, run a system scan only, check mark these lines if present

O4 - HKCU..\Run: [meow date] “C:\ProgramData\WindowPlayPlay.43lqtgw”
O4 - HKCU..\Run: [LESS CITY AMEN SETUP] “C:\ProgramData\IDOL SEEK LOUD.w9q45”

Close all other browsers/windows, click fix, close HJT.

Please follow all previous instructions regarding security programs.

Open a new Notepad session (Do not use a Word Processor or WordPad). Click “Format” and be certain that Word Wrap is not enabled.

Copy and paste all the text in the quote box below into Notepad.

Click File, Save as…, and set the location to your Desktop, and enter (including quotation marks) as the filename: “CFscript.txt” . Using your mouse left button, drag the new file CFscript.txt and drop it on the ComboFix.exe icon as shown at the bottom of this post.

KillAll::

File::
C:\ProgramData\WindowPlayPlay.43lqtgw
C:\ProgramData\IDOL SEEK LOUD.w9q45
C:\delete.bat

Folder::
C:\ProgramData\WindowPlayPlay.43lqtgw
C:\ProgramData\IDOL SEEK LOUD.w9q45

DirLook::
C:\ProgramData\BIASFREEDEFAULT
C:\ProgramData\Tool Eggs Less City

This will start ComboFix again.Close all browser/windows first. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HJT log.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix’s window while it’s running. That may cause it to stall

Before I follow through with the last step I wanted to say that the infected files that where in “C:\ProgramData\BIASFREEDEFAULT” (except for one) where moved to avasts virus chest or whatever folder is used to store viruses found by avast. Will this make a difference? Also avast found a virus in the “C:\ProgramData\Tool Eggs Less City” folder and it is in the virus chest now as well. Another thing, I see in that text document you had me made that it will make combo-fix perform a direct scan on BIASFREEDEFAULT. Since the Tools Eggs Less City folder obviously has viruses in it as well do you want to update that text document to tell combo-fix to run a direct scan on that folder too? One last thing, the reason the combo fix log I gave you is from a second scan is because I could not find the text document it created so I just ran it another time and copied the log. I am uploading the file C:\Combofix.txt I guess this is the right one, tell me if it’s not.
