Received a Avast Warning of virus found – located in C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Local\Temp\symlcsv1.exe
Virus name is Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}
Recommendation is move to chest. I did that last night and turned off the computer. This morning the I turned on the computer and same virus warning. I have moved it to chest and 10 seconds later the virus warning pops up.
I ran a complete scan of the hard drive and no virus was detected and deleted the Internet Temp File this morning and rebooted the computer.
Looking to stop the warning from reappearing every ten seconds and eliminating the virus.
See this Topic, detection on the same file, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=36799.0.
It is related to Norton Ghost, do you use it ?
I also received the same warning and came here suspicious that it might be a false report. Because this PC has had avast running with regularly daily updates, and is only used at home to play online boggle!
Malware name: Win32: Trojan-gen {Other}
File name: C:\Program Files\Linksys Wireless-G PCI Wireless Network Monitor
I’ve moved it to chest for now…
Follow the information I gave in the other topic, upload to virustotal to confirm/deny and take appropriate action.
I had Norton Internet Security running. I uninstalled the program and the computer is running fine.
Thanks for the information in solving the problem.
