I have run AVG, Viruscan by McAfee, Trend Home and Panda and all finish with no virus detected.
I run Avast on a file I downloaded from Canon website, a driver for my printer, and Avast warns it is infected with the win32 Trojan-Gen(VC)
I believe it was the moderator who suggested I send them the infected file, but its a 30MB file, and I dont know how to find the infected part or how to send it for analysis
Its all a bit confusing that other AV products detect nothing yet Avast found something, and I dont know what to do
If it a 30MB file i can only suggest that you post the link to the file download here and PM one of the Avast team so they know of its presents (Igor or Pavel should be fine to PM), they could download and analyse it that way then.

Its most likely a false positive, which means avast is detecting it as a virus when it really isn’t, unfourtunately it can happy sometimes in Avti-virus programs, but if the avast team analyses and finds it to be a false positive it will be fixed by the next VPS update.
I would e mail Pavel directly at baudis@asw.cz and e mail him the link to where the file is on the canon website and also e mail him the link to this posting.
I am sure the avast team will download the file and correct the false positive (assuming it is a FP)
It’s not me with the problem, Eddy put gb when It was ment to be mb, but he edited it and its fine
And I wouldnt mind if wadey023’s problem has been fixed or not?
I have been receiving a virus alert for several days for Win32:Trojan-gen{VC}. It says the location on my computer is C:\windows\system32?ttrib.exe. (BTW, anytime I receive a virus alert, I cannot do anything in the screen that pops up at that time. Anytime I try to either put the virus in the chest or delete it, I get a message back that it cannot do that. So, I go out of that “popup” message and into Avast through the icon and start a scan. If the scan finds a virus then I can put it in the chest.) Anyway, I have once scanned and put the virus in the chest, only to have the same virus pop up the next time the computer was rebooted. So I scanned again with quick scan, but nothing showed up. I’m getting frustrated. Any suggestions with my various problems?
