Windows 10 Creators Update problems.

I’m trying to upgrade windows 10 to the new creators version thats come out today. I was trying to get it before my time so windows update directed me to download windows 10 upgrade assistant.

It downloaded, verified and started to install the new upgrade… but at 74% the window suddenly went back to the first screen on the upgrade assistant, i.e. asking me if i want to upgrade. This goes around in circles, i.e. downloads, verifies, installs to 74% and so on.

I’m using the latest version of Avast (free) and did disable the shields.

I can only really think its still avast stopping it, or a usb link cable i have from my monitor to the pc to activate the monitors usb slots. I’ve heard usb devices causes problems in the previous upgrade for some people.

I’m putting this thread here in case anyone else is having problems… or if you didnt have problems and it went smoothly, that will be helpful also.

Thanks.

I also did my upgrade to Creators Update using the upgrade assistant. Before upgrading to Creators Update, I disabled my Avast Free “Permanently” and also took out my usb mouse from the usb port. After that I went on for the upgrade. It went smoothly and took me around 15-30 mins for the upgrade to finish.

Updated two systems with avast! to Creators Update without any problems. No disabling needed…

Same as RejZoR. Think your issue might be because of something else.

Just updating the thread.

The problem was an out of date launcher called Glyph by TrionWorlds. Updating it fixed the problem and I’m now on the latest windows version.

I didn’t need to drop any shields in Avast and the upgrade went smoothly.

Did an update to Anniversary Edition to Creator’s Update a couple of days ago.

  • CCleaner 64-bit now consistently crashes when asked to clean found files for removal Fresh clean install did not work Waiting for a compatible version
  • Sandboxie 64-bit consistently crashed until latest version was installed - 5.18.0.0 - which is now compatible with Creator’s Update.
  • Malwarebyte’s Anti-Malware Free had to be uninstalled and re-installed, as did Anti-Exploit Both work now.

avast required a repair to clean up some new bugs since it was done as an upgrade from version .2290 and not as a clean install.

Updated to the creators build with the tool.
Didn’t disabled anything.

So far I had only one problem which mysteriously solved itself after a few reboots.
A tool I use was giving a 0xc0000124 error.

I had (and have) CCleaner (64 bits) installed and no problem at all.

Another issue (new for me): chkdsk C: /f does not run at reboot as it once did. Neither does chkdsk C: /f/r or chkdsk C: /f /r /x Using PowerShell in admin Repair-Volume -DriveLetter C: -OfflineScanAndFix results in a one second scan.

Only reason for running is to see if it works. It does not.

Multiple sites reporting issue; https://duckduckgo.com/?q=chkdsk+c+%2Ff+does+not+run+in+win+10+creators+update&ia=web

Some users also reporting that their Realtek HD Audio doesn’t work (no sound) after upgrading to Creators Update. Microsoft said that they know what the problem is and will prepare a fix for it. I didn’t experience any such issue like that.
