I tried to share a folder on my network and the folder was not visible. I enabled the Windows Sharing rule in the firewall, which did not work. I then disabled the firewall, and that didn’t work. I uninstalled Avast and that work. I was able to map the share folder, but I had to use the IP address. Windows did not recognize my computer name. I was able to see the folder on the network and all the files. It behaved as it should. I then reinstalled Avast and now my shared folder is not visible again. What is going on?

Remote access shield maybe?
Try this:
- Go to AvastUI => Protection => Remote Access Shield => Settings (gear mark)
- Uncheck “Enable Samba Protection”
- Reboot your machine (just to be sure)
While this might be a workaround, I wouldn’t suggest to disable Samba Protection for security reasons.
And so what do you suggest I do, if not disable Samba?
