I found that avast was getting me a problem
When i turned on all shield of avast, start menu in Win10 respond lately sometimes and most of the times it won’t open even. Same problem with sound, battery, wifi/network options also.
When I turn off shield and wait around 15 sec then all work perfectly fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Try the following:
Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

What I find disheartening is that the answers supplied are almost always the same answers whenever we have
a problem and Microsoft can’t find an immediate answer.
Just for your information, the inability to use the audio button and the notification button, etc has happened to me.
It doesn’t always happen and I still haven’t figured out what triggers it. Hope you get lucky and find an answer.

Just did the Dec. Windows updates. Sound was turned off and the button doesn’t work again after the
required reboot.
